New Moon

When:
August 1, 2008 @ 5:13 am – 6:13 am America/Chicago Timezone
2008-08-01T05:13:00-05:00
2008-08-01T06:13:00-05:00

This new moon causes a total eclipse of the Sun — visible from a narrow corridor that traverses half the Earth. The path of the Moon’s umbral shadow begins in Canada and extends across northern Greenland, the Arctic, central Russia, Mongolia, and China where it will end at sunset. A partial eclipse is seen within the much broader path of the Moon’s penumbral shadow, which includes northeastern North America, and most of Europe and Asia.
