While you need to eat all 6 “tastes” according to Ayurveda,
Focus on foods that are: Sweet (Earth & Water elements, VP-), Bitter (Air & Ether elements, PK-), & Astringent (Air & Earth elements, PK-) tastes
Reduce or minimize: Salty (Water & Fire elements, V-), Sour (Earth & Fire elements, VK-), & Pungent (Air & Fire elements, VK-)
Eat food cool or warm, but not steaming hot food
Eat on a regular basis – often Pitta people like to eat every 3 hours
Pitta Dosha normally has the strongest digestion, though try to not over-eat as this can tax the Agni (digestive fire)
Avoid hot, oily, deep-fried foods, as well as heavily salty foods
Vitamins & Minerals that tend to be beneficial for Pitta people: A, B, K, calcium, & iron (take with coriander to help digest better)
Areas to focus on with Abhyanga: Feet, lower back, shoulders, neck, and scalp. Best before bed or exercise
Good scents (essential oils, incense, etc): Sandalwood/sandal, lotus, rose, jasmine, lily, amber, Indian cedar, lavender, any white flower i.e. gardenia, mints/peppermint, spearmint, wintergreen.
The small intestines, liver, or gallbladder are the main Pitta centers.
If you have a lot of anger coming out your mouth, hold cold water in your mouth until it gets hot, then spit it out. If you still have anger, do again.
Oil pulling: Coconut Oil for 2 to 5 minutes if gums are bleeding, red, or hot – otherwise sesame oil.
Pitta time of year: Summer months (Pitta starts increasing in spring as it is thawing the Kapha, and begins to disperse in Fall)
Pitta times of day: 10 AM to 2 PM, and 10 PM and 2 AM
