My new Favorite Tea of the Season ::Soothing the Soul with Turmeric, Clove, Ginger and CardamomThis fantastic tea is great for the fall season! All of these herbs/spices have some fantastic healing properties not just for the body, but for the mind and soul as well. Many of these herbs can be found in the cupboard, and the bakers out there will notice many of them are used in many classic pies of the season. The Tea (adjust to your likeness – I personally like mine a little stronger) - about 1 tsp of ground Turmeric
- about 1 tsp of ground Ginger
- about 15 Cardamom pods
- about 40 Clove buds
Turmeric is a nice herb/spice that has been used for thousands of years, primarily in India, for people with inflammation and pain, helping with digestion (flatulence, indigestion, etc), liver stagnation, poor circulation, skin disorders (the skin is a reflection of the Large Intestines, so this makes sense), metabolism, cancer, diabetes and much, much more. It is such an awesome herb in India that it’s commonly referred to as “Holy Powder”. It contains powerful antioxidants that are 5 to 8 times stronger than Vitamins C and E! Ginger, another herb with a very diverse range of uses, has been used for things like sore throats, headaches, fevers, arthritis pain, soothes the stomach/nausea, aides in digestion, and many other things. Cardamom, another great herb for the digestive track, is also used for things including heartburn, intestinal spasms, irritable bowel syndrome/IBS, flatulence, constipation, liver/gallbladder complaints, the common cold/cough, bronchitis, sore throat, bad breath (which can talk about an imbalance within the digestive system),depression (which about 90% of Seratonin is created within the intestines), impotency and many, many other things. Then last, though not least, we have the so common Clove! Clove, generally considered an aromatic spice also has many benefits. It has been used as an Anti-Bacterial/Septic/Fungal/Parasitic, a booster to the immune system, a great anti-oxidant, great from relieving stress and the list goes on, and on, and on 🙂 After seeing all the benefits of each of the herbs, there should be no question as to why this tea is my Favorite tea during the Lung/Colon season 🙂 Monday’s 4-Weeks of Wholeness Series Starting October 1st, and continuing each Monday through the end of November (then switching to Friday’s in December), we will be doing a 4-Weeks of Wholeness series!
